iPhone, Smartphones, PDA phones and IMAP Gmail Set-up on your iPhone

How
many times have you missed the ability to instantly reply to an
important email because you are not in front of your computer?
Frequently failing to reply to your emails in an instant has a great
impact to your professional and/or social life. Especially today,
that we are busier than ever before. Being able to communicate even
when we are on the road is important to us.

One of
the best ways to communicate with others is through email. Sending
email is probably the safest way to communicate at least in terms of
saving time, both for the person you are communicating with and you.
Good thing that you can use an iPhone, with its great Internet
capabilities and awesome applications, staying connected is easy…
whenever… wherever.

Whether
you are a business professional or simply a person who is always on
the go and want to be able to check your email, the Apple iPhone is
the right device for you. Now, if you already have the right device,
the next thing to look for is the right email service. There’s no
other email service that can provide you with constantly increasing
supply of storage and has a user-friendly interface, but the Google
mail or Gmail. This is why Gmail is now becoming the number one email
client in the world. Just like the Google Search, Gmail service
doesn’t have ads placed everywhere on your page.

To
access your emails from your Gmail account on your iPhone, you will
need to set up the IMAP application. The IMAP application allows
Gmail account holders to check and read their e-mail on any offline
e-mail readers that is just perfect for iPhone users. The IMAP
application is extremely simple to install and run on your iPhone,
allowing you to integrate your iPhone to your Gmail account
hassle-free. Adding this protocol to your iPhone, for strictly Gmail
accounts, has been recently announced by Google. Setting up the IMAP
for Gmail on your iPhone is simple, just follow these three easy
steps:

  • Go
to your Gmail account and enable IMAP. To do this, simply log-in to
your Gmail account and then go to Settings. From Settings, click on
Forwarding and POP/IMAP, then click “Enable IMAP”

  • Take
your iPhone and tap Settings, then tap Mail. Make sure that you
click Add Account. After you have done so, do not click the Gmail
option, because this has not been updated to the newest IMAP
settings yet. Instead, click Other. Once done, you will then begin
to enter your information. Enter your name, then you will be asked
to put the Host Name, which is: imap.gmail.com. After putting the
host name, you will then be asked to enter your full Gmail account
address, this includes the @gmail.com at the end of your username,
    example: johnsmith@gmail.com; and

  • Move
to the Outgoing Mail Server, or SMTP. Under the Host Name, you put:
smtp.gmail.com then save all of your changes. Then you’re done! You
have now just set up your Gmail account on your iPhone, thus
allowing you to view all of your Gmail messages, both old and new.

  • It is
really amazing to experience how Gmail and the iPhone work well
together. Using both, you will never miss another email again. Living
in a fast paced society, communication is important , and the best way
to communicate is through your iPhone.
